The Ulama, a forum of Islamic clergy in Kano, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to step in and avert any potential disruptions of law and order in the state.

In a statement endorsed by 18 members of the Ulama, the clergy expressed apprehensions about the ongoing emirship dispute.

They stressed the significance of Tinubu taking decisive actions to safeguard peace in the state.Despite its political intricacies, Kano State has maintained a reputation for peace within Nigeria. However, recent events within the Emirate have raised concerns that if mishandled, could escalate into chaos. It is crucial for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and take all necessary measures to preserve peace in the state.

“As the nation’s leader, Mr. President should prevent the contest for a royal position from descending into violence. We urge him to facilitate a peaceful resolution of these issues in Kano State without resorting to force or loss of life.

“Kano State has long been known for its tranquility, and we, the undersigned, implore both parties involved to seek civil means to resolve their differences and uphold peace in the state. As key stakeholders, we call upon Mr. President to engage and provide assurance to all contenders.”
