A Nigerian national, identified as Moses and residing in Bengaluru since 2014, has been apprehended in India for duping a woman of Rs 17 lakhs (N18 million). Moses, who engaged in multiple online frauds, targeted the woman by posing as a visa agent and promising her a work visa to Canada. The victim provided her personal details on a private website while searching for a medical coding job last October. Moses, exploiting this information, gained her trust by showing proof on an immigration site and a flight ticket he claimed to have booked for her. The woman transferred Rs 17 lakhs to his account. Growing suspicious as he demanded more money, she filed a complaint with the Wayanad Cyber Police Station. The police, led by Inspector Shaju Joseph, tracked Moses down in Bengaluru, retrieving Rs 6 lakh from him. Known for his fraudulent activities, Moses, a DJ, conducted only one DJ event monthly, dedicating the rest of his time to online scams. Law enforcement officials have seized several devices in his possession.
