Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) troops during Operation HAKORIN DAMISA IV have made significant strides in security efforts in Kaduna and Plateau states. Within the period of November 13 to 20, 2023, the troops have neutralized 7 bandits, recovered arms and ammunition, and apprehended 33 individuals linked to various criminal activities such as kidnapping, murder, arms dealing, attacks, railway vandalism, cattle rustling, and farm destruction.

Media Officer Captain Oya James revealed these developments in a statement. On November 13, 2023, based on intelligence, Mr. Suleiman Mohammed was arrested in Bakin Kogi area, Zangon Kataf LGA, Kaduna State, in possession of an AK 47 rifle and a mobile phone.

Further operations on the same day led to the arrest of five suspects associated with a criminal attack on Mr. Sati Pewat’s farm in Mangu LGA, Plateau State.

On November 14, 2023, troops conducted a raid in Tileng Paat village, Mangu LGA, Plateau State, apprehending Umurana Adamu with an AK 47 rifle, a magazine, and rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Additionally, a suspected arms dealer, Mr. Rufai Abdullahi, was arrested in Kamuru area, Zangon Kataf LGA, Kaduna State.

Engagements on November 14 resulted in the neutralization of 6 bandits at Kachallah high-ground, recovery of arms, ammunition, and other items, as well as the elimination of a suspected bandit, Musa Wada, during a search operation in Kondo village.

Further operations on November 15 led to the apprehension of notorious arms dealers Abdullahi Ali and Ibrahim Hussaini while en route Zamfara State. Seized from them were various rounds of ammunition, charges, and accessories.

Additionally, impostors wearing military camouflage were arrested on November 15, and rail line vandals were apprehended on November 18 with vandalized railway sleepers. Wanted criminals, as well as individuals involved in illegal possession of firearms, were also captured during these operations.

In total, 33 suspects were arrested, and 15 kidnapped victims were rescued. Moreover, numerous attacks were deterred, and distress calls were promptly addressed.

Major General AE Abubakar, the Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, reaffirmed the commitment of OPSH and other security agencies to protect law-abiding citizens in Plateau, Southern Kaduna, and Bauchi States. He appreciated the community’s support and assured swift justice after concluding investigations into suspects in OPSH custody.
