The Lagos State Police Command provided an update on the autopsy report of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, stating that they have not yet received the report conducted around two months ago.

This revelation followed a recent plea by Nigerian artist Bella Shmurda, a close friend of the deceased, urging the Police to release Mohbad’s remains for a dignified burial. Expressing concerns on X during the weekend, Bella questioned the extended delay in releasing Mohbad’s body, which had been undergoing autopsy procedures for the past two months. He urged the Police for transparency and swift disclosure of the autopsy findings.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, previously disclosed in September that the autopsy had been finalized, awaiting the results. However, as of today, November 21, 2023, marking two months since Mohbad’s body was exhumed for the autopsy, the Police clarified that they had not yet received the report.

Hundeyin addressed speculations, emphasizing that despite rumors suggesting the report’s readiness, the Police had not officially obtained it. He clarified that if the singer’s family lawyer requested the pathologists to release the report, or when it was ready, it would be handed over to the Police independently and formally received.

He stated, “The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumors that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumors, we work with facts.”
