Two Apprehended for ATM Card Swapping, Withdrawing N260,000. Niger State’s police force detained two individuals specialized in swapping Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards and illicitly withdrawing funds from victims in Suleja.

The police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed that the Suleja Area Command apprehended Aver Wese, 31, and Godwin Deor, 30, in the vicinity. Their arrest followed an attempt to swap an ATM card belonging to a female victim at a commercial bank ATM gallery in the town.

Abiodun explained, “Upon the victim’s discovery of the attempt, she raised an alarm, prompting the suspects to flee in a Toyota Corolla with Reg. No. YAB 267 CW.”

He continued, “Alerted patrol units pursued the vehicle and eventually intercepted it at Old NEPA Roundabout, Suleja, leading to the arrest of the two suspects. However, the driver, identified as David Therma, abandoned the vehicle and fled.”

Further interrogation revealed that both suspects hailed from Lokoja and had encountered David in Zuba, Abuja, who had obtained the vehicle from an Uber driver in the nation’s capital for their operation.

He said they allegedly confessed to have withdrawn about N170,000 from other victims’ accounts in Nasarawa State, about N90,000 was withdrawn through the victims’ cards in Lokoja and the similar attempt in Suleja was not successful.
