SANWO-OLU DID NOT UTILIZE STATE FUNDS FOR LEGAL FEES
On November 19, 2023, a post on ‘X’ by Labour Party (LP) candidate Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour alleged, without substantiated evidence, that the Lagos State Government funded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s legal dispute following the March 18, 2023 election. This claim is unequivocally false.
The allegation was supported by a document lacking the logo of the Lagos State Government or the endorsement of any of its officials. It appears to be another attempt to mislead the public regarding a purported N50,000,000 payment to four lawyers.
While it is commendable for patriotic individuals to scrutinize the finances of the Lagos State Government, any findings must be grounded in verified facts and the absolute truth.
The transaction alluded to by Mr. Rhodes-Vivour did not occur. There was a payment request, which Mr. Governor did not approve, as the Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice highlighted its irregularity.
To be clear, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed to upholding his Oath of Office and will not engage in the misappropriation of public funds.
