The International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor has acknowledged the receipt of a referral from five countries, including South Africa, urging an investigation into Israel for alleged war crimes. The countries—South Africa, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Comoros, and Djibouti—jointly referred the situation in Palestine to the ICC. The prosecutor, Karim Asad Ahmad Khan, confirmed that his office is conducting an investigation into the situation in the state of Palestine, covering events since June 13, 2014, in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. The ICC has jurisdiction over crimes committed on the territory of a state party and concerning the nationals of states parties.
