President Bola Tinubu has offered condolences to the family of the late Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Chris Alli, and the Nigerian Army following his demise on Sunday.

The sympathies from President Tinubu were conveyed in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, on Monday.

Major-General Alli served as the Chief of Army Staff from 1993 to 1994 until his retirement.

Expressing sorrow over Alli’s passing, President Tinubu remarked that it was a painful loss, acknowledging the deceased officer’s faithful service to the nation.

In the statement, the President said, “I condole with the Alli family and the Nigerian Army over the sad loss of the former Chief of Army Staff. He served his country with honour and retired meritoriously. May the Almighty God rest his soul and grant his family the fortitude to bear the huge void.”

Major-General Alli had previously held significant roles in the Nigerian Army, including Director of Military Intelligence, before ascending to the position of Chief of Army Staff, earning respect for his dedicated service.
