Nigeria’s head coach, Jose Peseiro, has submitted an application for the vacant coaching position at the Egyptian club, Zamalek SC.
Peseiro is one of the coaches who have sent their CVs for consideration, as reported by the Egyptian website, Kooora. Zamalek is actively seeking a new coach after terminating the contract of Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio due to unsatisfactory results.
A reliable source from the club confirmed Peseiro’s application, stating, “Jose Peseiro is among the names already nominated to lead Zamalek. But he does not enjoy any preference. He is just one name among many CVs on the board of directors’ table.”
Peseiro’s decision to pursue the coaching position at Zamalek may raise concerns with his current employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The 63-year-old coach recently signed a new short-term contract with the NFF during the summer.
Currently, Peseiro is facing criticism due to the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s subpar performance in the early stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. The team has yet to secure a victory after two games, including a 1-1 draw against the Warriors of Zimbabwe on Sunday.
