Muyiwa Adejobi, the public relations officer of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), responded to public inquiries about the possessions of police officers, stating that it’s unfair for Nigerians to assume officers cannot afford expensive phones.

Adejobi addressed these concerns on his social media handle, emphasizing the need for people to be open-minded and fair when questioning the income sources of police officers.

The discussion began when Adejobi shared a photograph of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) David Victoria, who also serves as the secretary to the Inspector General of Police (IGP). In the picture, DSP Victoria can be seen holding a Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 and wearing a diamond-branded watch on her wrist.

In his post, Adejobi acknowledged the presence of intelligent and accomplished individuals within the police force and extended his weekend greetings. This post prompted reactions from netizens who questioned how a police officer’s salary could afford a phone valued at one million Naira.

One user on the platform went as far as requesting that Victoria’s bank statements be made public to verify her income, as they believed her salary alone could not cover such an expensive device.

Social Media User Questions DSP Victoria’s Expensive Possessions

A social media user raised concerns over the lavish possessions of DSP Victoria, particularly her Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, which is valued at over a million naira, and her costly wristwatch. The user questioned the source of her funds and inquired about her monthly salary, expressing disbelief that her income alone could cover such expenses.

In response, Adejobi defended police officers’ financial capabilities, asserting that they are not destitute individuals. He urged the user to reconsider their statement, emphasizing the unfairness of assuming that a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) couldn’t afford a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Checks conducted by TheCable revealed that the price of a 256GB Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 varies from ₦700,000 to ₦750,000, depending on the location. Meanwhile, a 512GB Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 can range from ₦800,000 to ₦850,000.
