Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed his deep sorrow over the untimely demise of the 27-year-old singer, Mohbad, who passed away on Tuesday, September 12.

In an official statement posted on his Instagram page, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced his decision to engage the Department of State Security (DSS) in collaboration with the police for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death. He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that anyone found to have played a role in the events leading to Mohbad’s demise faces legal consequences after a comprehensive inquiry.

His statement reads:

“I would like to convey my heartfelt condolences regarding the tragic loss of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Imole Aloba, known as Mohbad. We have been actively coordinating with relevant authorities and closely monitoring the ongoing investigations.

To enhance the investigative process, I have extended an invitation to the Department of State Services (DSS) to join forces and broaden the scope of the inquiry through inter-agency collaboration and the utilization of cutting-edge technology to uncover the truth.

I have directed that all individuals possibly linked to any aspect of the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s passing be held accountable under the law following a meticulous investigation.

I earnestly appeal to anyone possessing valuable information that can aid the investigation to come forward. Furthermore, I have urged the investigative team to ensure the confidentiality and protection of all witnesses who provide essential information or indicative evidence to support the process.

Both the Police and the DSS have been instructed to provide periodic updates on their progress to the public.

I also implore the friends and fans of the departed artist to remain calm and refrain from making inflammatory statements or drawing premature conclusions. Demonstrating patience and closely following the investigative process will serve as a profound tribute to the memory of the talented artist we have lost.

The state government has also issued a statement confirming the governor’s decision to involve the DSS in investigating this tragic incident.
