Fresh FM 106.9 FM, a privately owned radio broadcast station in Ekiti State, has implemented a ban on all songs and content associated with Naira Marley’s Marlian Records until further notice, in response to the sudden passing of Mohbad, a former artist signed to the label.
This decision was announced in an official statement issued by Oluwaseunfunmi Williams, the Head of Production and Music Content at the station.
The statement reads, “Fresh 106.9 FM has temporarily suspended the airing of any songs and content affiliated with Marlian Records. This action has been taken in light of the public outcry following the untimely demise of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, as well as the circulation of various videos suggesting victimization and the alleged involvement of individuals associated with his previous record label, Marlian Records.”
This move follows a similar decision made by Splash FM 105.5 in Ibadan, Oyo State, which banned the playing of Naira Marley’s songs due to the ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of Mohbad.
Mohbad, who was formerly signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records, passed away at the age of 27 under circumstances that are still under investigation.
Furthermore, the Nigerian police force has established a special investigative team to delve into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. The team is expected to provide an interim report within two week
