The Rivers State Police Command has taken three individuals into custody on suspicion of murdering a young man named Progress Iyogo and harvesting his organs in Ogbaraye community, Abua/Odual Local Government Area of the state.

According to a community source known as Otuks, Progress, who was an Okada (motorcycle) rider and a native of Aminigboko community, was transporting goods from Abua Central (Abua LGA) when the incident occurred.

The source stated that an unidentified man believed to be a ritualist had enlisted the assistance of a group of five young men to obtain human body parts in exchange for money.

“They are involved in drugs. A suspected ritualist approached them to obtain a tongue and a heart. From what I heard, the man promised them over N2 million,” the source remarked.

“So, the victim was an Okada rider who was rushing to deliver someone’s belongings from Central Abua to Amingboko around 11 pm,” the source continued.

“This event occurred along the Emebu/Obrean boundary. They murdered the man and removed some of his organs. It happened on Friday night. After committing the crime, they fled, but three of the suspects were subsequently arrested.”

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, confirmed the incident on Sunday, September 17, and announced that the three suspects had been apprehended.

“Yes, I can confirm the incident. The three suspects who perpetrated that act have been arrested. They have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department,” added the PPRO.
