In Rivers State’s Rumuodomaya, Obio-Akpo Local Government Area, a young man whose identity is yet to be disclosed was beaten to death by suspected cultists.
The incident transpired around 5 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, along Eligbolo Road. According to a resident of the area, they heard voices and witnessed people fleeing. Suddenly, a group of men, believed to be cultists, began to assault a man.
“The cultists were assaulting a man, and he was pleading for mercy in the early morning hours until his cries grew silent,” he recounted.
Later, the police arrived at the scene and made multiple arrests.
Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that the community discovered the man’s lifeless body upon waking.
“It is regrettable that no one came to his aid early that morning out of fear. The police arrived and found the deceased body,” the resident lamented.
