The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended Chinedu Ezeudu, a resident of Ndi Ikpa village in Ezinato community, Awka South Local Government Area of the state. He is accused of blackmailing a relative’s wife and selling her explicit video online.

According to a statement by Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, the Media Assistant to the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, the victim lost her memory card in March 2023.

In June, Chinedu initiated contact with the victim, demanding a substantial sum of money to prevent the release of the explicit videos. When the victim refused to comply, the suspect threatened to share the videos on various social media platforms. However, the victim’s husband confronted the suspect, instructing him to delete the videos, unaware that they had already been duplicated.

Despite being confronted by the victim’s husband, the suspect proceeded to post the videos on Facebook, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms. He also sold the videos for sums exceeding ₦3,000 in an attempt to profit from the explicit content.

Upon receiving a report from the victim, the police swiftly arrested the suspect. He is currently in police custody and will face charges before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka.
