Yusuf Mubarak, a 27-year-old media personality who was reported missing in Kwara State, has been discovered deceased.
Mubarak was last seen around the Federal Secretariat area, Federal Road, Ilorin, at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Subsequently, he became unreachable. Tragically, his lifeless body was found along the Unity Road area of Ilorin metropolis on Saturday, September 16.
Saeed Tijjani, a journalist, confirmed this development in a Facebook post. He wrote, “Distinguished Friends and Lovers of Yusuf Mubaraq Authority, we regret to announce and confirm the unfortunate death of our brother who was declared missing yesterday. May Allah accept his return unto Him, forgive his sins, reward him with Janah, and abide with all that he left behind.”
In response to this tragic incident, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has directed security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the culprits to justice.
A statement released by Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, expressed shock and sorrow at Yusuf Mubaarak’s death under unclear circumstances. It also conveyed the Governor’s condolences to Mubaarak’s family, friends, and the youth constituencies in the state.
The Governor condemned the violence that led to Mubaarak’s death and demanded an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the case to apprehend those responsible. He urged security agencies to spare no effort in seeking justice for Mubaarak and his family.
The statement concluded with a prayer for Mubaarak and his family, seeking Allah’s blessings and comfort for those mourning his untimely passing.
Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, also issued a condolence message and called for authorities to thoroughly investigate the case. He expressed his devastation at Mubaarak’s death and emphasized the need to address the security challenges facing Kwara State and the nation as a whole. Saraki offered his prayers for comfort to Mubaarak’s family and urged authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
