In a tragic turn of events, friends and colleagues are grieving the loss of an officer from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who met with a fatal accident in Orile. The officer has been identified as Abiodun Ajomole, a dedicated father-of-three.
Abiodun Ajomole met his untimely demise when a trailer collided with him on Saturday, September 16, at Orile bus stop in Lagos State. He was attending to a bus he had flagged down when this tragic incident occurred.
Heartbreakingly, just two months prior, Abiodun Ajomole had celebrated the birth of his third child with his wife.
The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through his circle of friends, who have taken to social media platforms, particularly Facebook, to express their sorrow.
In an official statement, Olabisi Sonusi, the spokesperson for the FRSC in Lagos State, confirmed the incident, revealing that the accident was caused by brake failure in the Mack truck that collided with Ajomole’s vehicle. The incident took place near the Orile/Iganmu Bridge during a scheduled patrol activity by the FRSC team.
According to Sonusi, Abiodun Ajomole was attending to an LT Volkswagen bus when the Mack truck lost control, causing a chain reaction that led to his tragic demise. The local police and LASTMA (Lagos State Traffic Management Authority) officials were swift to respond and provide assistance.
The vehicles involved in the accident have been taken to the Orile Iganmu police division, and Abiodun Ajomole’s remains have been entrusted to the Yaba mortuary.
Efforts are underway to locate the driver of the Mack truck responsible for the accident. Meanwhile, Corps Commander Babatunde Farinloye, the Sector Commander for Lagos State, has expressed condolences to the grieving family and prayed for them to find the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
