Sergio Brown, a former NFL standout, has been reported missing in the wake of his mother’s tragic murder, which occurred near a stream behind her residence.

Concerned relatives of the 35-year-old former football star, residing in Illinois, alerted authorities on Saturday, September 16, as they were unable to establish contact with Sergio or his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown.

A search operation for the mother and son commenced immediately. Tragically, Myrtle Brown was discovered deceased in the vicinity of a creek behind her home, with authorities subsequently declaring her death a homicide due to multiple injuries consistent with an assault, as determined by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday, September 17.

Sheila Simmons, the victim’s sister, revealed that her last communication with Sergio was on Thursday, September 14. On Saturday morning, she learned that both her sister and nephew were unreachable.

Simmons expressed her concerns, stating, “We’re determined to uncover the truth because it’s highly unusual for my sister not to answer her phone or respond to text messages. People have been trying to contact her since Friday. No one was able to reach her, and this morning, I received the call that she’s missing. Immediately, I came here, only to discover my sister has passed away.”

Sergio’s brother, Nick Brown, turned to Facebook in an emotional plea for the former NFL star’s return, writing, “I want him to know that I love you and please come home.”
