Early on Monday morning, September 18, reports emerged that former NBA player Lamar Odom had been in a minor car accident in Los Angeles.

The 43-year-old ex-NBA player reportedly emerged from the incident without injuries but was visibly shaken when his Mercedes collided with two parked cars around 3 a.m.

According to TMZ, Odom was driving at the time, returning home from a friend’s place in Northridge, when the accident occurred in a residential area near his residence. The incident took place as he dropped his phone and reached down to retrieve it, leading to the collision with one parked car, which, in turn, bumped into another parked car. Thankfully, there were no occupants inside the parked vehicles at the time.

When authorities arrived at the scene, Odom, a two-time NBA champion, cooperated fully and explained the circumstances of the accident. Consequently, they opted not to file a police report or press any charges.

Despite the impact triggering the deployment of airbags, Odom did not require medical assistance, as confirmed by representatives. They also mentioned that Odom addressed questions regarding his sobriety and ownership of rehab facilities when asked about drinking by the authorities. No field sobriety test was reportedly conducted by the police.

After Odom elucidated the details of the accident, the owners of the parked cars came out of their homes to exchange necessary information. Subsequently, Odom’s Mercedes was towed from the scene, and his security team accompanied him home.

It’s worth noting that Lamar Odom was previously involved in another car accident twelve years ago. In July 2011, he was part of a serious accident in New York City, which resulted in a collision involving the car Odom was riding in, a motorcyclist, and a 15-year-old pedestrian who tragically succumbed to injuries.
