The Ogun State Government has issued a warning to its residents regarding a cholera outbreak in Ijebu North Local Government Area.
Dr. Tomi Coker, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Health, emphasized that cholera outbreaks are typically more prevalent during the rainy seasons and may be linked to inadequate personal and environmental hygiene.
Coker urged the people of Ogun State to promptly report all instances of diarrhea, whether with or without vomiting, to government healthcare facilities. She also urged them to contact the Local Government Area Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer (LGA DSNO) at 08069788449.
She stressed the importance of vigilance when it comes to the food and water consumed, explaining that cholera is transmitted through the consumption of contaminated food or water containing fecal matter.
