A 22-year-old houseboy, identified as John Alister, has been apprehended in Ghana for the murder of his employer, Afia Ahenkan, and subsequent theft of her belongings, including her car. The arrest took place on Thursday, September 14, shortly after the crime was reported.

Alister, employed as a house help, tragically stabbed his employer, Afia Ahenkan, to death on Friday, September 8, just one month after starting his employment. Following the murder, he fled the scene with her car, phone, and other personal items.

According to reports from Ghanaweb, the perpetrator used the victim’s phone to impersonate her, engaging in conversations and sending messages to her friends and acquaintances.

During the interrogation, John Alister confessed to the heinous crime and admitted to selling both the victim’s car and phone.

Notably, the victim, Afia Ahenkan, was the spouse of Osei Kofi’s son, a renowned figure in the world of Ghanaian football. The son, based in London, had hired the 22-year-old houseboy to assist with household chores.

It has been alleged that John Alister had a history of criminal activities. In July of the same year, he allegedly stole over GHC 7,000 and four mobile phones from his previous employer in East Legon. He had managed to remain under the radar until his recent involvement in the tragic death of his new employer.
