A Nigerian lawyer, Monsieur Avril, has revealed that he was expelled from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja WhatsApp Platform for referring to Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, the leader of the Lagos chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), as an “executive thug.”
MC Oluomo is a prominent ally and supporter of President Bola Tinubu.
On his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Mr. Avril shared screenshots of the WhatsApp messages.
He explained that before his removal, there were heated discussions on the recent judgments issued by the Presidential Petition Election Court in Abuja.
In his words: “Attention, people have taken over NBA IKEJA WhatsApp Platform. If you criticize the PEPT judgment or argue against the Emergency Patriots of the Judiciary on the group, they label it as being against the Judiciary, and you risk being removed.
“I was removed from the NBA Ikeja Platform for using a derogatory term against MC Oluomo. The Derogatory Word = ‘Executive Thug,'” he added.
It had been previously reported that MC Oluomo mobilized a group of individuals to be on standby in the event that the Presidential Election Tribunal’s ruling did not favor President Tinubu.
The individuals assembled by MC Oluomo in Abuja included members of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee.
In March, MC Oluomo issued threats to Igbo residents in Lagos, cautioning them against voting in the gubernatorial and state legislative elections unless they planned to vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
Addressing a gathering, MC Oluomo warned Igbo people not to bother going to the polling stations if they intended to vote for candidates from parties other than the APC.
In October 2018, MC Oluomo publicly declared himself a staunch loyalist of Tinubu. He stated that he and the APC belonged to Tinubu and that he would support whatever Tinubu desired.
On his Instagram page, MC Oluomo expressed his loyalty to Tinubu, stating, “I am a loyalist of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Jagaban. I wear the Jagaban jersey, and I’ve been a loyalist since 1999. The first Hajj I embarked on was through his excellency in the year 2000. Furthermore, he has done a lot for me, and he made me who I am today. Our relationship has been very cordial and strong in the area where I grew up.
“So I’m one of his loyalists who strongly believe in him. He owns the party, and wherever his interests lie, I, Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, Mc Oluomo, belong. I and my people in Oshodi formerly endorsed HE Akinwunmi Ambode for a second term because his government still operates under the shadow of the party’s national leader. But now, the situation has reversed, and I must follow the interests of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s decision.
“If Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu says it’s no longer Babajide Sanwoolu but someone else, so shall it be.”
