“Two Nigerian Nationals Arrested in Philippines Anti-Drug Operation, Seizure of P6.2 Million Worth of Heroin
In a recent buy-bust operation at a shopping mall in Imus City, Cavite, Philippine anti-narcotics authorities have apprehended two Nigerian individuals and confiscated heroin with an estimated value of at least P6.2 million.
The suspects, Enuka John Chukwuemeka and Christopher Nwabufo, both residents of Golden Acres Village, Las Piñas City, were taken into custody on September 13, 2023, following the sale of 40 grams of heroin worth P240,000 to an undercover agent at the mall’s main entrance around 4:05 p.m.
Upon their arrest, a routine search led to the discovery of an additional kilo of heroin valued at P6,000,000 and 15 grams of marijuana estimated at P1,800, all in the possession of the suspects.
Authorities are currently investigating the source of these illicit drugs.
In addition to the narcotics, two mobile phones were seized from the suspects for further examination in digital forensics to uncover potential evidence of drug-related transactions.
Chukwuemeka and Nwabufo now face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165, also known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” specifically Section 5 in relation to Section 26 paragraph B (Attempt or Conspiracy to Sell Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs).
This successful operation was carried out collaboratively by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP), and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).”
