The Federal Government has made it clear that there are no intentions to raise taxes or further burden the taxpayers of the nation.

Chairperson of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, made this statement in response to unsubstantiated reports regarding the government’s purported plan to increase taxes on Tuesday, August 15.Oyedele emphasized that the federal government’s objective is to streamline the country’s numerous taxes, which currently exceed 60, into a single-digit figure.

He stated:” We hold a firm belief in the feasibility of this objective with the collaborative support of all stakeholders. Rather than resorting to tax hikes, our focus remains on narrowing the tax gap to boost revenue.” Our committee is set to convene its inaugural meeting and workshop next week Tuesday, during which further details will be shared with the public.”
