The crisis in the Edo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) arising from differences between Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Chief Dan Orbih-inspired mainstream of the party was on Wednesday rearing its head over the selection of candidates for the forthcoming local government election.

At issue was the conduct of local government primaries allegedly staged by agents of the governor without the imprimatur of the party leadership.

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Ogie Vasco, affirmed that only the party as presently constituted can conduct a valid primary as it disowned that which it claimed had been conducted to select party candidates for the local election.
