Barcelona are reportedly planning to invite a former player to their title celebrations when they eventually seal the La Liga title.

Xavi’s men are well on their way to clinching Barcelona’s first La Liga title in four years as they currently sit top of the league table.

With just five games left to play, the Catalan giants only need two points to be crowned champions of Spain.

Their first chance of sealing the title will come on Monday when they travel to the RCDE Stadium to take on local rivals Espanyol.

Sealing the victory inside the stadium of their rivals will be the icing on the cake after a brilliant season from the Camp Nou club.

According to Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona are planning to invite Gerard Pique back to join the celebrations when they secure the title.

He tweeted: “Barça intends to invite Piqué ahead of the festivities that will take place if they end up winning the League.”

Pique played six matches in the 22/23 season under Xavi before suddenly announcing his immediate retirement from professional football in November.

“And now that [this] kid’s dreams have come true, I want to tell you that I’ve decided that now is the time to bring this journey to its end.”

This week, it was confirmed that legendary midfielder Sergio Busquets will leave the club at the end of the season.

After 18 years of playing for Barcelona, Busquets said: “Although it has not been an easy decision, I think the time has come. It has been an unforgettable journey

“I always dreamed of playing with this shirt and at this stadium. Reality has exceeded all my dreams. It has been an honour, a dream, a source of pride, and it meant everything to defend and represent this badge for so many years.

“But everything has a beginning and an end. I want to thank all the people who made this possible, from the first day to the last.”
