One person was reportedly killed during the enforcement of traders’ relocation orders at Atikankan, Ado-Ekiti by men of the Amotekun corps.
The alleged fierce resistance by traders from the Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti to the new location provided by the government at Agric Olopo area led to a brawl with Amotekun officers.
It was gathered some yet-to-be-identified persons were hit by bullets during the fracas while one of the victims was reportedly dead.
Also, two officers of the Amotekun corps were said to be seriously attacked in retaliation by the traders.
At the moment, the area has been taken over by armed policemen to avert further crisis.
Reacting, the Police Public Relations, DSP, Abutu Sunday said the command received a distress call that there was a clash between the operatives of the Ekiti State Security Network Agency (AMOTEKUN) and a group of irate youths in the Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti.
Abutu, in the statement, said Command immediately deployed operatives to the scene to maintain peace and forestall further damage.
“Upon reaching the scene, it was discovered that two(2) persons were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital.
“The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP OGUNDARE DARE, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
“Four suspects have been arrested so far in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, normalcy has been restored to the area.
