Manchester United have identified Marc Guehi as a replacement for Harry Maguire, according to reports.
Maguire has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, having fallen out of favour under Erik ten Hag.
The 30-year-old has made just 14 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils this season, with most of those coming off the bench.
It looked as though he would be finally get his opportunity following injuries to first-choice centre back pairing Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.
However, traditional left-back Luke Shaw has been preferred alongside Victor Lindelof, all but confirming Maguire’s future at the club.
As a result of the various injuries to Ten Hag’s back line and the impending departure of several players, the Dutchman is keen to add another central defender to his ranks this summer.
Crystal Palace’s Guehi has reportedly been identified as a potential addition, having impressed at Selhurst Park this season.
Guehi price tag revealed
Guehi has emerged as a target for a number of Premier League clubs this summer, including Arsenal and Tottenham.
Although the Eagles are expected to drive a hard bargain for Guehi, who is under contract until 2026 – placing Palace in a strong negotiating position.
United have previously done business with the south London club when buying Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who cost a total of £50 million in 2019.
And it seems the club will demand a similar fee this time round. While Chelsea will also have the opportunity to match any offer.
The Blues attached a sell-on clause when Guehi left Stamford Bridge for Crystal Palace in 2021, meaning they will pocket 20% of any future sale.
And with the interest seemingly growing around the player, both clubs could benefit from a major bidding war this summer
