The governorship and state assembly elections in Mafa, the birthplace of Borno Governor Babagana Zulum, saw a high number of voters casting their ballots.
Located approximately 35km away from Maiduguri, Mafa serves as the administrative center for the Mafa Local Government Area of Borno.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the polling units in the town started the accreditation and voting process on schedule.
NAN’s interviews with some voters revealed that the voter turnout for this election was noteworthy in comparison to the previous election.
Bulama Abubakar said after casting his vote that ”we trooped out to cast our votes in support of our son, Prof. Zulum because he is seeking reelection.”
The governor praised the prompt arrival of election officials and materials at numerous polling stations in the town, citing it as a significant improvement from the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 25th.
Also, Aisha Modu and Mustafa Lawan, said the large turnout was in solidarity with their son.
