On Wednesday, an alliance was formed between the Nasarawa State chapter of the Labour Party and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

The objective of the alliance is to overthrow the ruling All Progressive Congress in the upcoming governorship election on March 18, 2023, in the state.

The announcement was made during a joint stakeholders meeting that took place in Lafia on Wednesday.

At the meeting, Alexander Emmanuel, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State, expressed his commitment to ensuring the victory of the PDP governorship candidate in the upcoming polls on Saturday.

He also took the opportunity to distance himself from the supposed endorsement of Governor Abdullahi Sule by some former members of the Labour Party on Tuesday. Emmanuel referred to them as “saboteurs who did not mean well for the party.”

“We are optimistic that we will emerge victorious during the polls because the incumbent governor had done nothing for the wellbeing of residents of the state since his emergence into office on May 29, 2019.

“The people should come out en-masse and vote for the PDP candidate on Saturday, we believe in him because he has what it takes to make Nasarawa State better,” Emmanuel added.

During the meeting, Francis Orogu, the Chairman of PDP in Nasarawa State, expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the Labour Party in the state for their support of the party’s governorship candidate, David Ombugadu. He assured the residents of the state that if Ombugadu is elected into office, he would not disappoint them.

The stakeholders meeting also featured speeches from Isa Adamu, the LP State Zonal Chairman for the Southern Zone, Godwin Dogo, the LP Zonal Chairman for the Western Zone, and Hakim Lukas, the Chairman of the Northern Zone.

Each of them expressed confidence in the PDP governorship candidate, Ombugadu, stating that if elected into office, he would bring Nasarawa State to greater heights.
