The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State has reportedly expelled its gubernatorial candidate, Muhammad Gumel, on the grounds of engaging in anti-party activities.

According to a report from Daily Post, Kabiru Hussaini, the acting chairman of the party in the state, made this known during a briefing with journalists in the state capital, Dutse.

Hussaini called on members of the ADC to support Mustapha Lamido, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing that only the PDP can rescue the state from total collapse.

“We are directing all our Party’s supporters to support the PDP gubernatorial candidate because it’s only the PDP that can salvage the state from total collapse,” he said.

The ADC governorship candidate, Gumel, has reportedly relinquished his candidature and shifted his support to the All Progressives Congress.

Gumel responded to the development by stating that the acting chairman had no authority to expel him from the party.

He went on to explain that the acting chairman was already expelled from the party by the national headquarters on September 22nd, 2022, and therefore, he is not recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission or security agencies.
