The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has thrown its support behind Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with only a week left until the presidential election.

The national chairman of APM, Yusuf Dantalle, made this announcement during a press conference held in Abuja on Thursday night, revealing that the party made the decision after discussing crucial national issues during its National Executive Committee meeting.

As a result of the decision, APM has collapsed all of its structures to support Abubakar and his running mate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

The decision by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to adopt Atiku Abubakar as their presidential candidate means that they will no longer support the presidential aspirations of their own candidate, Princess Chichi Ojei.

Ojei is a prominent politician from Delta State and the only female presidential candidate in the upcoming February 25 poll.

Yusuf Dantalle, explained that the party decided to support Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, after carefully evaluating their democratic credentials. Stating that the decision was made in the interest of the nation.

He added “The APM has confidence in the leadership of Atiku-Okowa and will collapse its structures nationwide to campaign for their presidential ticket.”
