An investigation has been launched by the Lagos State Police into the death of Toyin Adeniji, who was one of the aides of Chief Dapo Sarumi, a notable member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Adeniji, aged 47, was allegedly shot and killed by individuals believed to be members of a cult group in the Agege region of the state.
According to sources, Toyin Adeniji was standing in front of his residence located on Oyewole Road in the Agege area when gunmen stormed the area and shot him from close range.
It was also reported that during the attack, seven other individuals who were outside the home of the PDP chieftain in Agege narrowly escaped death as the assailants fired their weapons indiscriminately.
Following the incident, the police in Area ‘G’ in Ogba have cordoned off the surrounding area, and the case has been handed over to the state’s Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin of the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident when contacted by The PUNCH, stating simply “I can confirm that to you” during the phone call.
