Former Governor of Plateau State and member of the Integrity Group, Jonah Jang, has strongly criticized the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Governor Simon Lalong, for his assertion that the G-5 governors, who are headed by Nyesom Wike, were endorsing the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
In response to Lalong’s claim, Jang issued a statement on Sunday through his Media Consultant, Clinton Garuba, in which he stated that the Nigerian people no longer attach any credibility to statements made by Lalong. The statement reads, “Obvious sign that Lalong is daydreaming is him thinking that the G5 PDP governors and allies including former Governor Jang are supporting Tinubu.
“They have repeatedly said that they do not have personal problems with Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, but with the process that brought him up.
“Yes, the integrity group has disagreements with the PDP and their withdrawal of support for Atiku’s campaign does not in any way suggest that they support the APC candidate. Only Lalong and his fellow dreamers think so.”
Recall that Simon Lalong, chairman of the 19 Northern Governors and Governor of plateau state, had assert that the G5 Governors also known as the Integrity Governors, will support the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
He further made a statement about those who align with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the faction led by former governor Jonah Jang. He stated that they are in a state of confusion, as Jang, who has been opposing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, would now be supporting the presidential candidate of the APC.
Governor Lalong referred to Jang and his supporters as being confused and encouraged them to switch their allegiance to the APC in order to avoid an upcoming embarrassing situation.
“The G5 Governors will support the Tinubu and Shettima presidential elections. So the PDP faction led by Governor Jang is only fooling themselves. I call them confused people”, Lalong said.
