Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, has given the green light for the use of Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Elekahia, Port Harcourt as the venue for the presidential campaign rally of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, scheduled for February 15th, 2023.
The disclosure was made by Tony Okocha, the Rivers State Coordinator of Bola Tinubu Campaign Organization, during a press conference held in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Tony Okocha revealed that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure a smooth rally for the APC presidential candidate.
He also noted that Governor Wike, in his kindness, approved the use of the stadium without collecting the standard N5 million fee outlined in Executive Order 21 from the campaign council.
He stated, “Wike in his usual magnanimity has granted the approval of an alternate venue, the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt, for the presidential campaign rally scheduled to hold on February 15, 2023 absolutely free of charge.
“But subject to the issuance of a written guarantee of the safety and security of the facilities at the venue due to the violence recorded in recent rallies by the governorship standard bearer of the party in the state.”
Additionally, Okocha, who doubles as the Coordinator for Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (BAT Vangiard in the South-South region), informed that an 11-member committee has been established to coordinate and guarantee the successful hosting of the rally in Rivers State.
