The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been directed by a Federal High Court Judge, Justice Riman Fatun in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital to reinstate Hon.Igariwey Iduma as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Afikpo North/South federal constituency in the upcoming general election.

This decision was made in a judgment handed down in response to a suit filed by Igariwey, represented by his lawyer Nnaemeka Victor Nwonu, which challenged INEC’s authority to remove his name from the INEC portal without justification.

In addition to restoring Hon. Igariwey Iduma’s name, the Federal High Court also dismissed an application for a joinder filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the constituency, Eni Iduma Chima.

The application was deemed frivolous and lacked merit, leading the court to impose a cost of N200,000.00.

INEC had omitted Igariwey’s name from its portal two weeks ago, replacing it with Irem Ibom, who did not participate in the PDP primaries that produced Igariwey, who is seeking his third term in the House of Representatives.
