Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State has promised that the state will be more secure under the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, and his running mate, Professor Ngozi Odu.
Wike stated that Fubara and Odu are experienced technocrats with a deep understanding of government operations and the ability to build upon the progress already made while maintaining the same developmental trajectory.
He gave these assurances yesterday, at the Kelechi Nwogu Legacy Stadium, where the campaign flag-off rally of the Rivers State PDP for Omuma local government area of the state was held.
Wike reminded the people of Omuma that when he sought their vote as governor in 2015 and 2019, he made several promises which he was able to fulfill by delivering development projects to the area.
He also stated that he has returned to ask for their electoral support for Fubara because it will secure more infrastructure development for them.
The governor also noted that this is the first time, Rivers State will be blessed with two technocrats who possess such wealth of experience and are ready to manage the affairs of the state.
The governor added, “The funds that should have been used for the development of Omuma and other local governments of Rivers State were embezzled by Tonye Cole and his accomplices. That’s why we have taken them to court because we will not allow anyone who stole our money to come to power through the back door.”
The Governor continued, “No one should be afraid of what is happening in the country. We cannot be intimidated. No one can take away this flag from us. We are not second-class citizens to anyone and we must continue to stand firm and ensure that our state is protected.”
He also urged them to obtain their permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) as it is their power to resist those who failed in their attempt to use the military and the police to rig the 2019 general election.
