Sophia Momodu, the mother of Davido’s first child, has apologized for the singer’s birthday message that she posted on behalf of her daughter Imade Adeleke.

When wishing her daughter’s father a happy birthday on Monday, Momodu tweeted a picture of the Afrobeats musician with his children, which also included his deceased son Ifeanyi Adeleke.

However, many social media users criticized her for selecting that specific picture, which featured the singer’s deceased kid, and expressed their unease with the image.

Others criticized her for even posting the singer’s birthday, especially since she didn’t post to express her condolences or celebrate the late Ifeanyi’s birthday.

Amid the call out and blasting by social media users for the said birthday post, the mother of one on Tuesday apologised noting she never intended to make an insensitive post.

She said: “I realise that the earlier post may come across as insensitive and I sincerely apologise, as that was not the intention.

“Imade deeply loves her father and all her siblings, and as a mother, I’m doing my best to guide her through the difficult emotion of grief from the loss of her brother whilst trying to celebrate her father’s birthday.

“I ask for your consideration and hope that you all can be understanding during these times.”
