The annual Festac Music Festival now spans three days, from December 28 to December 30, at the F.H.A. Sports Ground, giving it a new dimension.
The Lagos State Government and the Amuwo Odofin Local Government are collaborating on the event, according to the event’s organizers, Nija Ninja Production.
The music festival, which is in honour of the late music star Sound Sultan, is aimed at the community, talent, and social development through music and sports and community mobilisation.
The Festac Music Festival’s director, singer, filmmaker, and CEO of Naija Ninja Production, Dare Fasasi aka Baba Dee, claimed that the festival is expected to draw over 50,000 attendees and, through clever media use, reach millions of people.
Baba Dee, the elder brother of the late Sound Sultan, also disclosed that victors of the talent hunt will receive a recording contract in addition to other rewards as part of the efforts to promote talents in Festac.
“We are giving out a recording deal with a music video for the talent hunt winner. It’s a two-year record deal for the main winner, while 2nd place gets a music video and third place gets a cash prize,” Baba Dee said.
On the promised support from the state government, he said, “we have been promised support by the excellency Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu which is yet to be actualised.”
Top Nigerian performers from earlier editions included 2baba, MI, Vector, General Pype, 9ice, Jaywon, Faze, and a slew of others.
