The Ghanaian government has denied authorizing a statement issuing security advice to its nationals residing in Abuja.

A statement alleged to have emanated from the Ghanaian government’s office went viral on Wednesday, November 16. The purported statement advised Ghanaians against making non-essential travels to Abuja, citing heightened insecurity. The statement went viral weeks after the US and UK also issued a security alert.
