The National Association of Nigerian Students, Southwest Zone has said it was yet to endorse any presidential candidate for the 2023 polls.
This was made known in a statement by the association in which it warned against attempts to use its name wrongly.
The statement said some people were out to commercialise the struggle of the union.
The statement came amid another one by a former President of NANS, Sunday Asefon, that the student body had ensured the aspiration of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, for the 2023 polls.
But reacting in a statement by the South West Zonal Coordinator, Deputy Coordinator and Public Relations Officer, Adegboye Olatunji, Alao John and Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, the NANS said: “It is, therefore, well within our rights and an imperative task for us to quash any attempt to commercialise or take undue advantage of the collective efforts of thousands of living and late comrades as well as students.
“Therefore, after closely observing the activities of Sunday Adedayo Asefon led Tinubu/Shettima Students Vanguard and being inundated with alarms from our students, we are under great constraint to disassociate ourselves from the said group.”
