Former England striker, Michael Owen, has praised Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino after their 7-1 win over Rangers in the Champions League.

Owen also advised Jurgen Klopp to start Firmino against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Brazilian has scored eight goals in 12 appearances for the Reds so far this season.

He also netted twice against Rangers, as they closed in on the Round of 16 qualifications.

Speaking on BT Sport, Owen said: “I can’t imagine he’s not playing.

“He’s had such a good season and is in such good form that I don’t think Jurgen Klopp can leave him out at the weekend.”

Liverpool is currently 14 points off league leaders Arsenal and 13 behind City.
