Nigeria’s Table Tennis team failed to live up to its billing as they suffered a three-nil loss to India in the semifinals at the ongoing Birmingham 22022 Commonwealth Games on Monday.

The Nigerian side will now slug it out with England for bronze medal, as India will battle Singapore for the gold medal.

This will be on Tuesday in the men’s singles table tennis event.

In the men’s doubles, Nigeria’s duo of Bode Abiodun and Olajide Omotayo lost to Harmeet Desai and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran by 11-6, 11-7, 11-7 points.

Against all expectations, India’s Sharath Kamal Achanta stunned Africa’s number one table tennis player, Quadri Aruna, by 11-9, 7-11, 11-8, 15-13 points.

Olajide Omotayo also lost to Sathiyan Gnanasekran by 11-9, 4-11, 11-6, 11-8 points.

Nigeria lost by 3-1 to India to settle for the losers final against England.
