An aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Gwer-West/Gwer-East House of Representatives (HoR), Federal constituency seat in Benue State, Benjamin Aernyi, has stated that he has not declared himself the winner of the primary election held on Sunday.

A direct primary election was held in all the wards of the two Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state to elect the candidate of the party for the 2023 general elections.

Aernyi who observed that he is a believer in the rule of law said he was waiting for the outcome of the zonal congress of the party that would ratify the election at Aliade, Gwer-East LGA on Tuesday.

The aspirant who made this known in a statement signed by Terzungwe Qua-Aondo, Coordinator Media and Communication for the Aernyi campaign organisation noted he has not declared himself the winner of the election.

The statement read in part: “For the avoidance of doubt, Hon. Aernyi Tersen Benjamin has not declared himself the winner of the primary election which was held yesterday.

“He is a firm believer in the rule of law and would not for any reason, blatantly and willfully engage in practices that will subvert the will of the people.”

However, he thanked his supporters for remaining steadfast.
