Bwari Area Council of the FCT has charged newly employed staff of the Education and Social Development Department on decent dressing and other civil service ethics.
The Division Head of Information, Emmanuel Ishaku, gave the charge Monday while addressing the staff during the department’s orientation for the newly employed.
Ishaku, who is also the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE), Bwari chapter, admonished the staff to ensure that they abide by the civil service rules and ethics.
“You are expected to carry out your role with dedication and sign of commitment to the civil service and its core values which include integrity, honesty, objectivity and impartiality.
“You must be punctual to work.
“That is the first sign of dedication to serve because your attitude towards work would tell a lot about your personality.
“You must not forget to dress appropriately and decently as the popular saying, you are addressed as you are dressed.
“Avoid wearing too tight or too loose clothes. Look smart by wearing the most appropriate for any office,” he said.
Also speaking, the Head of Department of Education and Social Development, Dinnatu Tukura, also advised the new staff to be men and women of integrity, while exercising good behaviour.
Tukura, while noting some of the norms of the department, said that the new employees must be efficient, show dedication to work, punctual and be effective on their roles and assignments.
She also urged them to be good ambassadors of the council, adding that they must avoid a negative reputation anywhere they found themselves.
Tukura congratulated and implored them to use the opportunity to serve their society and make their family proud.
No fewer than 30 newly employed staff were posted to the department and participated in the orientation exercise.
