According to MARCA, Erling Haaland wants to decide his future before the 31st of January. Barcelona and Real Madrid are amongst the favourites to sign the wonderkid. That said, all eyes from Spain now look towards Haaland.

After an extremely successful stint at Borussia Dortmund, Haaland is said to have decided to move on. Clubs across Europe have queued to sign him, including the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Chelsea.

Multiple sources reported Haaland’s preference for La Liga over the Premier League. The 21-year-old was also spotted on his vacation to Spain where he reportedly told fans that his future was in the same country.

Despite the financial crisis at Barcelona, club president Joan Laporta does not rule out the superstar’s signing.

“Anything is possible. We’re working on building a strong team for next season. The first step was bringing in a quality player that Xavi wanted.

“As for the rest, we’re always studying the market. Barça continues to be a global reference,” Laporta said (h/t Barça TV+).

While both Barcelona and Real Madrid offer a great project to the striker, Los Blancos would provide a greater prospect of immediate success.

However, the Norwegian international could want to be the leader of the project where he signs. Given Carlo Ancelotti’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe, Barcelona seem to be better placed in that sense.

In ten Bundesliga starts this season, the number 9 has scored 13 goals and assisted 4 more. He also has three goals on his name in the Champions League.

It remains to be seen which direction Haaland chooses to pursue. Agent Mino Raiola’s excellent relationship with Joan Laporta could have a role to play in the youngster’s decision.

Moreover, the sentiment that Haaland would be the epicentre of Barcelona’s team for years to come would indeed be a massive pulling factor.
