Over the past 24 hours or so, rumours of Barcelona wanting to sign Alvaro Morata have been gaining a lot of momentum.
The Spaniard, who is currently on loan at Juventus from Barça’s La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid, has had a difficult 2021/22 season in Turin so far. In 18 Serie A outings, he has scored just five goals and has been part of a team that has underwhelmed so far.
Nevertheless, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is believed to be ready to take a gamble on the 29-year-old as he hopes to bolster his ranks in January. The Catalans have already brought in a new forward in Ferran Torres, but are now looking for a proper No. 9.
However, according to a survey conducted by Barca Universal on Twitter, a majority of the Blaugrana fans are unwilling to see Morata join their beloved club in the January transfer window.

His past association with Real Madrid is obviously a major deterrent. But the fact that his performance levels have been on the decline at Juventus is also a big concern among the supporters.
Having netted 12 goals in 32 La Liga matches with Atletico Madrid in 2019/20, Morata managed 11 strikes in 32 Serie A outings with Juventus the last term. And his numbers this season have been much poorer.
Despite having shown promise in his career, Morata has never really been able to establish himself as an elite striker in the game. His big-money move to Chelsea did not pay off, while his switch to Atletico Madrid also failed to live up to expectations.
At a time when Barcelona need an infallible goalscorer to lead the line, the 29-year-old Spaniard is an option that does not necessarily inspire a lot of confidence.
But, the Blaugrana are believed to be in talks with Atleti over a move, despite having rejected a €35 million loan-to-buy proposal already. Whether those talks end up leading to a transfer in the January window remains to be seen.
Fans, however, do not seem to be very excited about the possibility of the ex-Real Madrid ace arriving at Camp Nou.
