Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo says reports the club has spoken with Zinedine Zidane about becoming their next manager are false.

French outlet Le Parisien reported on Thursday that PSG have been in contact with Zidane for a number of works to sound him out about potentially replacing Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s new coach.

But speaking on Friday, Leonardo denied the rumours and also insisted that the club wants Pochettino to remain in charge.

“We do not want Mauricio Pochettino to go,” said Leonardo, as reported by RMC Sport.

“He has never asked to leave and nobody has contacted us for him.

“We respect Zinedine Zidane a lot, both as a player and coach, but I tell you very clearly that there has been no contact. No meeting.”

Pochettino has been heavily linked with the vacant Manchester United job but with Ralf Rangnick now expected to take over at Old Trafford until the summer, it seems unlikely that any move for the PSG will now happen before the summer at the earliest.
