The Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Buki Ponle, on Friday paid the family of late Eesa of Omu-Aran, Chief Jide Adebayo, a condolence visit.
NAN reports that Adebayo,66, a former Acting Managing Director of the agency, died on Nov. 5 in a Lagos hospital during a brief illness.
As Eesa of Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, Adebayo was the second-in-command to Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, the traditional ruler of the ancient community.
The managing director, who was received by Adebayo’s widow, Alice, broke down in tears on sighting her.
Ponle extolled the virtues of the deceased, saying he would long be remembered for his uprightness and selfless sacrifice to humanity.
The managing director, who described the deceased as a man of the community, said his tenure in office as Eesa witnessed impactful achievements.
The wife of the deceased, in her remarks, expressed gratitude to the management of NAN for the visit, saying the management had demonstrated empathy with the family in its trying time.
