Dino Melaye, a former Senator and member of the 8th Nigerian National Assembly, has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for boasting in his October 1st Independence Day speech that no government since 1999 has done what he has done in six years.
Listing his achievements, Buhari said he has done well in infrastructure, social care, governance, Nigeria’s image and influence in Africa, and the international community.
“A lot has been achieved in the last six years on many fronts: in infrastructure, social care, governance, Nigeria’s image and influence in Africa and the international community.
“But critics misdiagnose incremental progress as stagnation. Since coming to power, this Administration has tackled our problems head-on in spite of the meagre resources. No government since 1999 has done what we have done in six years to put Nigeria back on track,” Buhari had said.
But reacting, on Saturday, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) Melaye lambasted the West African nation leader.
He wrote on his known Twitter handle: “Mr President no Govt since 1914 has done what you have done. What use to be abominable, perilous, unthinkable, divisive, satanic, irrational, illogical, unconstitutional and criminal is now a custom and normal.- SDM”
